A six-pointed bronze star. Impressed with a name, a service number, and a corps.

The service number suggests early-war enlistment. The rank of Sowar places him in a cavalry regiment. By the time his star was impressed, the cavalry rode tanks. The Indian Armoured Corps fought in North Africa, Italy, Burma, and the defence of India itself.

We do not know which theater was his.
We do not know if he came home.
We know only that he served.

The full service record remains at the British Library and at the Ministry of Defence archives at Ahmednagar. The archive is prepared to recover it on behalf of whoever next carries this medal.
